Very young. Drink through 2010. Finishes dry and uncompromising, with a note of caramel oak. *** Decanter Magazine

Château Malescot St. Exupery
A classic, this 1998 combines elegance with lovely textured, rich flavors of black cherries and currants, resulting in quintessential Bordeaux that is unlike any other wine produced in the world. The wine possesses an ethereal lightness, layers of fruit, and a diaphanous framework. More nuances appear with each sip. Tasters will find notes of blackberries, plums, currants, tar, spice box, and minerals. A beautifully etched wine, it will be at its finest between 2003-2017. 91 points. "A fragrant perfume of pain grille, scorched earth, smoke, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. The layers of sweet black fruits are matched by crisp acidity and well-concealed tannin. The finish is long and pure." - Abbott's Claim Vineyard was purchased by Ken Wright in 2000 and was developed by him. Pinot noir made from the vineyard is one of his newer offerings. Robert Parker. 92 points
Ken Wright's newest arrival to its stable of single-vineyard Pinot's. The planted acreage totals 17 acres. Vines are roughly an equal mix of Pommard clone. Fruits tend to be darker such as plum, cassis and black cherry. As would be expected from a vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton District the wine is very darkly colored, dense and lush.

Lot 1006 - (UPDATED) Extraordinary Fisher Wines
Colgin, Blankiet Estate, Staglin, Araujo and Dalle Valle. Apart from representing some of the greatest wines in the world, what is the point of commonality with these highly acclaimed estates? Well they are all previous employers of David Abreu and Mia Klein, who form part of Fisher?s winemaking team. With such a celebrated roll-of-honor, the production of world-class wine seems almost guaranteed by default. Though make no mistake, Fisher’s enviable place in the world of fine wine is owed in the main part to the unerring pursuit of perfection of one man, Fred Fisher. Few vintners have the intimacy with the land Fred Fisher has. From the moment he stepped aside of the business world in search of his own paradise, he personally tackled each craft himself. He cleared and farmed the land, milled the lumber then built his home and winery.
Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, Fisher Vineyards grows and produces wines from both its Napa Valley Estate and Spring Mountain Estate in Sonoma County. For 30 vintages and through a succession of winemakers, each Fisher Vineyard block has expressed a footprint, a definitive quality of greatness. It was this that drew Abreu and Klein to the Fisher estate.
Abreu offers these words, “You just don?t find many vineyards of this caliber”.
(4) 750ml Fisher RCF Merlot, 2001
The 2001 RCF Merlot is full of luscious cassis and blueberry fruit, ripe tannins, notes of bittersweet chocolate and sweet spice, all of which add complexity and richness to this bright, elegant Merlot. For those who have come to love the unique character of this bottling, you'll experience it in abundance in this classic 2001 vintage. 89 points
(1) 750ml Fisher Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2000
The 2000 Fisher Wedding Vineyard Cabernet reveals the vintage’s hard tannin and clipped personality, along with attractive complexity, earthy, cedar, black cherry fruit...89 Points. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.

Lot 1007 - (3) 750ml Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon Library Release, 1994. Released by the winery in 2005
Burgess is a winery that is timeless. Burgess makes wine in a very traditional, old world style.
Burgess Estate Vineyard's Library program continues with the 1994 vintage. They hold a small percent of the bottled Cabernet Sauvignon back until it is at least 10 years old. This concept demonstrates that our mountain vineyards have the ability to age under proper cellar conditions. The aged wine then displays the characteristics of Cabernet with bottle bouquet.
Our Library release wine now has that quality that only Cabernet Sauvignon kept under ideal conditions can provide ---the cedar, leather, chocolate, and pepper flavors and aromas. The vintage of 1994 was excellent for our Cabernet harvest. The summer was warm and harvest began about two weeks earlier than normal. This assured full maturity and outstanding complexity. There are layers of aromas balanced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, along with complementary French Oak.

Lot 1008 - (6) 750ml Faiveley Nuits St. Georges Premier Cru Les Argillats, 2005
Faiveley Premier Cru Nuits St. George from Top 2005 Vintage
Arguably the finest Burgundian producer, Faiveley's Premier Cru Nuit St. Georges is an extraordinary example from an extraordinary vintage. More balanced wood treatment highlights the complex and highly nuanced nose that features smoke, game, underbrush, spice and earthy red berry fruit aromas that lead to rich, full and supple flavors oozing extract of red and black cherries on the complex, textured and wonderfully long finish. This is an impressive wine that will need a full 10 years to really be at its best yet there is so much dry extract that it will seem more forward than it really is early on." 91 points

Full-bodied, massive, and concentrated, with a 45-second finish, this thrilling effort should drink well between 2010-2035. 95 Points. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.

Lot 1013 - Sebastiani Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley in Large Format
The rich fruit produced in this vintage coupled with the renowned soft tannins of this appellation created a powerful yet appealing wine. This Cabernet has lots of black cherry and toasted oak aromas with a note of dried herbs and black olives. There is an earthiness in the nose and flavor.
The addition of Merlot and Cabernet Franc to the blend makes for a perfect harmony of tannin and fruit and allows the deep, black cherry fruit concentration. It finishes with a deep cherry essence and soft tannins. Truly, a decadent California Cabernet, which can be enjoyed with marbled aged beef, lamb and mild cheeses. Smart Buy - Wine Anthology "Recommended"
Outstanding wine. Seductive aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and mocha. Great texture, with complex layers of cassis, plum, wild berry, with a long finish of chocolate and berries. Well worth the money. 88 Points Wine Enthusiast.

The thrilling 2004 Solaia (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc) is clearly one of the highlights of this great vintage. Endowed with massive amounts of concentration as well as structure, it is a big, powerful Solaia that does not sacrifice elegance or balance in its full-bodied personality. Packed with the essence of blackberries, chocolate, tar, smoke, cassis and menthol, this layered beauty exhibits great length and a persistent, warmly alcoholic finish. It has been stunning on the three occasions I have had it so far and is not to be missed. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024. 96 Points. The Wine Advocate‹Antonio Galloni, June 2007.

A decade after release the Barossa, "Rhone Ranger" blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre, sourced from old vines is drinking perfectly. Enticing bouquet of rose, lavender, and white pepper. Complex palate of spice, cherry and strawberry flavors make for a luscious well-balanced wine. 90 points W/E.
(1) 750ml Grant Burge Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon, 1996

The 1996 was a gold medal winner at both the Melbourne and Barossa Valley Wine Shows, and made in the baroque oaky style, but with a fair degree of fruit to carry that oak. Medium red-purple; there is abundant, ripe, dark berry, earthy varietal fruit and subtle oak on the bouquet. The palate has attractive juicy cassis berry fruit, good tannins and balanced oak.' Lot 1028 - Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Meritage, 2002
A huge wine. Big producer. Small format. Perfect.
Long-lived Ridge 2002 in .375 format is perfect for those nights when you don't wish to share. A wine rated just two points under Monte Bello in the vintage, it will drink well through 2010.
"A candidate for one of the longest-lived Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines in California is Ridge's The 2002 Claret shows a bright ruby-red. Currant, flowers, chocolate and sexy oak scents on the nose. Supple on entry, then rather green in the middle, with herbs, licorice and strong oak notes currently dominating. Rather tart and dry on the end. Needs time to open, and time to age." 89 Points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.
