Lot 1006 - (UPDATED) Extraordinary Fisher Wines

Colgin, Blankiet Estate, Staglin, Araujo and Dalle Valle. Apart from representing some of the greatest wines in the world, what is the point of commonality with these highly acclaimed estates? Well they are all previous employers of David Abreu and Mia Klein, who form part of Fisher?s winemaking team. With such a celebrated roll-of-honor, the production of world-class wine seems almost guaranteed by default. Though make no mistake, Fisher’s enviable place in the world of fine wine is owed in the main part to the unerring pursuit of perfection of one man, Fred Fisher. Few vintners have the intimacy with the land Fred Fisher has. From the moment he stepped aside of the business world in search of his own paradise, he personally tackled each craft himself. He cleared and farmed the land, milled the lumber then built his home and winery.

Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, Fisher Vineyards grows and produces wines from both its Napa Valley Estate and Spring Mountain Estate in Sonoma County. For 30 vintages and through a succession of winemakers, each Fisher Vineyard block has expressed a footprint, a definitive quality of greatness. It was this that drew Abreu and Klein to the Fisher estate.
Abreu offers these words, “You just don?t find many vineyards of this caliber”.

(4) 750ml Fisher RCF Merlot, 2001

The 2001 RCF Merlot is full of luscious cassis and blueberry fruit, ripe tannins, notes of bittersweet chocolate and sweet spice, all of which add complexity and richness to this bright, elegant Merlot. For those who have come to love the unique character of this bottling, you'll experience it in abundance in this classic 2001 vintage. 89 points

(1) 750ml Fisher Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2000

The 2000 Fisher Wedding Vineyard Cabernet reveals the vintage’s hard tannin and clipped personality, along with attractive complexity, earthy, cedar, black cherry fruit...89 Points. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.

Pale yellow. Sexy aromas of peach, honey and crème brulee, with lovely floral lift. Fat, impressively sweet and fruit-driven, with concentrated, rather powerful peach and pear flavors. Finishes spicy and broad, with echoing flavors of fruit salad, menthol and caramel. A very rich Coutet that will need time to absorb its alcohol. 92 Points International Wine Cellar

Extremely rare 3-Liter format, #25 of 25 produced. A blend 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28 % Merlot destined to be a 30-year-wine by Michael Broadbent

The 2000 Fratta is a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged 18 months in new French oak. This unfined/unfiltered red is the qualitative equivalent of a first or second growth Bordeaux. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of cigar smoke intermixed with cedar, cassis, chocolate, and espresso. Full-bodied, rich, and layered, this is a Pauillac from Veneto ... believe it or not. W/S 92 points.

Lot 54 - A 100-Point Château Mouton Rothschild

Robert Parker feels that the 2003 Mouton will settle in between 95 - and 100 points.  Here is one's opportunity to acquire the extraordinary example appreciating by 20 % a year in Europe.

2003 Château Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac

".... With full-bodied, meaty, powerful, dry flavors as well as a huge finish, this high class wine should be at its finest between 2012-2040+.
During its sojourn in barrel, it reminded me of a hypothetical blend of the
1982 and 1986 Moutons, but since bottling, it appears different, and even more tannic than those two vintages..." 95/100 points Robert Parker.

"Blackberry, cherry and currant with just a hint of toasted oak.  Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a lovely combination of ripe fruit and vanilla character. Goes on and on. Long and very stylish. Balanced and refined. Best after 2011. 23,330 cases made." 95 points Wine Spectator
